ThanksGiving 2013
Our Thanksgiving should have been a complete disaster, Noon of thanksgiving day we were supposed to go to the boyfriend's families house but they canceled due to some unforeseen circumstances. So with the boyfriend at work I'm at home with the two kids silently freaking out because their expecting a big dinner and all I had was the makings for 2 pies. I very calmly get my kids in the car and go to walmart in search of dinner items, mainly a thawed turkey. They had them....16lbs and up, the one that was the most thawed was a 17.5 pound turkey. So even tho I only had 4 people to feed I buy the gigantic bird the rest of the normal turkey day side dishes and quickly get home. I had more fun cooking with my kids than I wouldve ever imagined and more fun than going to someone else's house having to say "stop that, don't touch it, don't lick people, if it falls on the floor don't eat it and get your tongue out of your nose!" On repeat for several hours. I cleaned the birdbut didn't stuff it due to lack of time. My daughter kay wouldn't touch it cuz naked bird is yucky we used and oven bag and got it in the oven at 2. We made 3 pies: apple cinnamon carmal cake which was really really good, a pumpkin cream pie and a cherry pie. We alsoalso made dirt cups while the side dishes were cooking. Who knew that Ty would be good at smashing an entire container of oreos! I totally had the start to a horrible holiday but it turned out amazing. The boyfriend walked in the door as i was putting the food on the table. We've decided we're staying home from now on, my kids love cooking with me and its easier for us expecially Ty since there's no grand social expectations. I've learned a lot from my son like the little things are the best and sometimes not being social can be a good thing ;)

Intro to my life.
Welcome to my page! I hope you can find some similarity and humor in the quirky funny things that happen in my house...The land of ODD. no it doesn't stand for any disorder....just meaning odd. Im 26 and i live in the great land of Ohio with my boyfriend and kids. I have 2 children My oldest is a girl whose 9 and my youngest is a boy who is about to be 6 in February and has high-functioning autism. We have 2 Dogs a husky named Kora and a Yorkie Poo named Riley. With the trouble these two get into im sure you'll be hearing about them a lot.
My Day starts at 5:30am *GAG* I dont care how old you are 5:30 is a disgusting time to wake up...its still nighttime! College kids are just passing out when im getting up for work in the morning. I work in Home Health as a nursing assistant and I work with a teenager who has severe low functioning autism along with other disorders.I get home at 8 something and then its get everyone up for school dressed and on the bus...im by no means perfect we are late to school or sometimes we take a mental health day and for go the idea of school all together. My older child Kay is in 4th grade and Ty is in Kindergarden, I know I cannot wait for the little one to be in school all day. This half day shit is for the birds, what can they really teach a child let alone a stubborn kid with autism in 2 1/2 hours? Before we moved closer to the school he was on the bus longer than he was at school. Ty is in a special needs class at the regular elementary school. I deeply considered choosing the autism schools but the closest one is 30 miles away and with him im a helicopter mom I need to be able to access my kids in 10 minutes or less. As any autism parent with tell you, its a must these kids will bolt the second you blink in the wrong direction. Since the youngest one has been in school i have been more hands on literally lol im the PTO vice president and I volunteer for everything but more on that later. On days that im home all day or only work the morning shift i use the measly 3 hours i get to clean the house converse with the boyfriend or nap.The little one gets home roughly around 12 usually 5 minutes before, and then its back to his routine. They say if you've met one kid with Autism......you've met One Kid with Autism, and its so damn true. While i can relate to other autism moms each of our kids is totally different with different sensory issues and such. My little ones diet is very restrictive his sensory issues ,and lack of gross and fine motor skills prevents him from giving certain textures a double look. My older neurotypical child Kay is a picky eater but ive gotten around that with some super mommy ninja skills that i will share in later blog entries. This is pretty much my about me page in later entries i will divulge about the land of odd and its strange inhabitants and occurrences.
